Performance Anxiety

Race Day or Game Day anxiety is a serious ‘hurdle’ for elite athletes and for most everyone who competes in anything anywhere - sports, business or even a finding parking spot.

Ann presented a 75-minute program on wellness and Mindfulness for a group of endurance athletes. The presentation provided research on the use and benefits of specific techniques to quell anxiety plus an experience of the two of the most fundamental components of the program - awareness of breath and mindful movement.

Following this introduction, participants were invited to continue on to a six-week group program to learn more wellness tips and tools - effective in navigating everyday life as well as training for Race Day.

Feedback on the six-week program was superlative and the most-engaged participants continued in a subsequent program.

Post-acquisition Ambitions

CEO of $300M logistics company needed senior staff to come to agreement on strategies and tactics to achieve sales and operational targets as part of integration into a larger publicly-held transportation company. His objective was a spirited discussion leading to a coherent strategy, actionable steps and a timeline.

Ann facilitated a two-day meeting that challenged assumptions and identified innovative ideas while refining the plan for a delivery network with an ambitious goal to scale to over $1 billion in revenue.

The meeting included representatives from Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering, Operations and IT as well as the CEO, CIO and CFO of the Division. The needs and goals of each were synthesized into a coherent, forward-looking plan along with requirements for the technology platform imperative to support growth.

In addition to producing a plan, collaborative working relationships were developed and the CEO surpassed his goals.

CLIENT ENGAGEMENT

Harmonize and UNITE for soaring profit

After a highly complex project with hundreds of time studies and work productivity measurements, company management at this apparel manufacturer needed to raise work standards of over 200 union employees. To implement these higher standards, agreement and “buy in” was needed from top leaders of the labor union, UNITE Local 565.

What had previously been an antagonistic relationship was harmonized through the consideration and reconciliation of two seemingly conflicting sets of objectives. The project resulted in recommendations that respected both parties by identifying common objectives, gain sharing opportunities and a mutually beneficial path forward.

Employees were better compensated for discipline and results while facility profitability soared.  The company was subsequently acquired for more than $500M.

* Disclaimer: AWE & Co does not provide Labor Union negotiation. This engagement illustrates an ability to bring together disparate perspectives and conflicting agendas for mutual benefit.
